Lift up your hearts above the present and look with eyes of faith into the future! Today the seed is sown, the grain falls upon the earth, but behold the day will come when it shall rise a glorious tree and the branches thereof shall be laden with fruit. Rejoice and be glad that this day has dawned, try to realize its power, for it is indeed wonderful! God has crowned you with honour and in your hearts has He set a radiant star; verily the light thereof shall brighten the whole world!
(‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Paris Talks, p. 68)
No doubt in the future, when the spiritualized, a vast amount of our present ills and problems will be remedied. We who toil now are paving the way for a far better world, and this knowledge must uphold and strengthen us through every trial.
(Shoghi Effendi, Lights of Guidance, p. 603)
No one knows what the future holds for him, or to what degree he is spoiling it or creating it; therefore the thing to do is one’s daily best and let the future take care of itself. It would be very unwise for you to let this experience of a voice-the origin and purpose of which you have no way of knowing-influence you in any way or to set any store on its observations.
(Shoghi Effendi, Lights of Guidance, p. 515)
Only God knoweth the future and that which will come to pass.
(Bahá’u’lláh, Fire and Light, p. 10)
Study the Tablet of the Holy Mariner that ye may know the truth and consider that the Blessed Beauty hath fully foretold future events. Let them who perceive take warning. Verily in this is a bounty for the sincere!
(‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Selections from the Writings of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, p. 314)
The days pass swiftly as the twinkle of a star. Make your mark now, at this crucial turning point of a juncture, the like of which shall never return. Make that mark in deeds that will ensure for you celestial blessings-guarantee for you, for the entire race, a future beyond any earthly reckoning.
(The Universal House of Justice, Ridván 156, 1999, p. 4)
We do not know what form the immediate future will take, anywhere. Because the passions of mankind are so unregenerate, and it is so deaf to the voice of Bahá’u’lláh, no doubt great suffering will be experienced.
(Shoghi Effendi, Lights of Guidance, p. 129)
We do not know what the future holds exactly, or how soon we may all pass through another ordeal worse than the last one. “But what we do know is that all we can do as Bahá’ís is to teach and to exemplify the Faith.
(Shoghi Effendi, Lights of Guidance, p. 237)
