Archetypes

The Holy, Divine Manifestations are unique and peerless. They are the archetypes of celestial and spiritual virtues in their own age and cycle. They stand on the summit of the Mount of Vision and they foreshadow the perfections of evolving humanity.

. . . that archetype of Bahá’í teachers, Martha Root.

Shoghi Effendi, God Passes By, p. 344

Martha Root, that archetype of Bahá’í itinerant teachers.

It is right and fitting that out of honour to her [Bahiyyih Khanum] most high station, in the gatherings of the followers of Bahá’u’lláh, whether of the East or the West, all Bahá’í festivals and celebrations should be completely suspended for a period of nine months, and that in every city and village, memorial meetings should be held, with all solemnity, spirituality, lowliness and consecration -- where, in the choicest of language, may be described at length the shining attributes of that most resplendent Leaf, that archetype of the people of Bahá.

Compilations, Bahiyyih Khanum, p. 29

It was her [Martha Root] great teaching journeys -- four of which took her entirely round the world combined with her truly outstanding qualities, that so endeared her to Shoghi Effendi and led him to call her the "archetype of Bahá’í itinerant teachers".

Ruhiyyih Khanum, The Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith, p. 39

The Manifestation of God is the Archetype, and His life is the supreme pattern.

What ‘Abdu’l-Bahá had to achieve, in this hour of humiliation, was no less than a miracle. Qualities that He now brought forth amply and visibly demonstrated that He was indeed what His Father had affirmed of Him -- the 'Mystery of God'. He was immeasurably, tirelessly patient. He was undeviatingly, unshakably firm. He was magnanimous. He was uncompromising. He was kindness personified. He was stern. He walked in the ways of humility. He spoke in tones unmistakably authoritative. He was meek. He was the archetype of majesty. Divine paradoxes were revealed in His being, His actions, His words.
