Syria

The future of Syria is full of dangers. We are face to face with the most hazardous day of her history. People are entirely ignorant of what is going to happen. As the danger approaches with its darksome forebodings they receive a momentary glimpse of the real conditions, are horrified, shuddering with fear and then return to their indifferent mood. Were the knowledge of the supreme difficulties and horrors in store revealed, not one single soul would have stayed in all Syria nor could they sleep quietly in their beds." (Spoken by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, January 17th, 1915, from secretary notes)

With regards to the source of this quote, Chad Jones (founder of Ocean) said: "A friend of mine is mining a copy of the multi-volume set of post-travels notes taken by Ahmad Sohrab. "While in California, Sohrab was shocked by the volume of material collected by the full-time stenographer hired by Ella Cooper. Realizing what a treasure was being lost, he began recording all the spoken conversations of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá. That is how! we have "‘Abdu’l-Bahá in Egypt", for example. "This statement is from the unpublished multi-volume notes following the Master's return to Haifa. So far I have only seen a physical copy and do not yet have a PDF. They are all in English in Ahmad Sohrab's handwriting

which fortunately is very legible.
