Recompense

I will recompense whosoever will cleave unto Me, and recognize My rank and station, and hold fast unto My hem.

Bahá’u’lláh, The Compilation of Compilations vol II, p. 329

Rejoice not in what ye have done, or will do in the future . . . for ye are unable by such means as these to exalt your stations, were ye to examine your works with acute discernment . . . Nay, God will add unto the recompense with which He shall reward Us, for having sustained with persevering patience the tribulations We have suffered. He, verily, shall increase the reward of them that endure with patience.

Bahá’u’lláh, Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 128

Say: Pride not yourselves on earthly riches ye possess. Reflect upon the recompense for your works that hath been ordained in the Book of God, the Exalted, the Mighty. Blessed is the rich man whom earthly possessions have been powerless to hinder from turning unto God, the Lord of all names. Verily he is accounted among the most distinguished of men before God, the Gracious, the All-Knowing.

Bahá’u’lláh, Lights of Guidance, p. 304

We nourish your souls for the sake of God; we seek from you neither recompense nor thanks.

Bahá’u’lláh, The Kitab-i-Iqan, p. 22

Indeed, whosoever beareth allegiance unto Thee by walking in the way of the Báb, for him the recompense of the next world hath surely been prescribed.

The Báb, Selections from the Writings of the Báb, p. 73

It is seemly that the servant should, after each prayer, supplicate God to bestow mercy and forgiveness upon his parents. Thereupon God's call will be raised: 'Thousand upon thousand of what thou hast asked for thy parents shall be thy recompense!'

The Báb, Lights of Guidance, p. 230

Reflect upon the time of Jesus and the deeds wrought by the Jewish divines and Pharisees. Such deeds will, in this day, be repeated at the hands of these Christian clergymen. Be not perturbed, however; be firm and constant, for it is certain that a company of souls shall, with infinite love, arise to enter into the Kingdom of God. These souls shall recompense you for the vexations, the humiliations, and disdain to which you are subjected by the clergy: to the injuries inflicted by these latter they shall respond with acts of kindness, until eventually, as the experience of former times hath shown, the children of the Kingdom shall gain the ascendancy, and victory shall be theirs. Rest ye confident of this.

‘Abdu’l-Bahá, The Compilation of Compilations vol. I, p. 154

Every spotless action, every sincere intent of ours will win the commendation of the True One, will be exalted and magnified by Him, and requited with a bounteous recompense.

Shoghi Effendi, The Compilation of Compilations vol II, p. 351-352

In regard to the question you asked him: he feels sure that, although in some ways you may be a financial burden to your children, it is to them a privilege to look after you; you are their mother and have given them life, and through the bounty of Bahá’u’lláh they are now attracted to His Faith. Anything they do for you is small recompense for all you have done for them.

Shoghi Effendi, Lights of Guidance, p. 230

There is no doubt that every blessed soul who brings his life into harmony with this all-swaying power shall give lustre to his works and win an ample recompense.

Shoghi Effendi, The Compilation of Compilations vol II, p. 350

In this day, the beloved of God must not hesitate or delay an instant in teaching the Cause of the manifestation; and reconciling words to the religion of majestic oneness; because, verily, in this day, to the soul who is the cause of guidance to another soul the recompense of a martyr in the way of God will be assuredly recorded by the pen of the Cause for his deed. This is from the bounty of God unto thee. Do according to what thou hast been commanded and do not be of those who tarry.
